Adding / Modifying Search Engines

E-Mail Seeker supports an easy mechanism for adding/modifying any search engines. It is compatible with more than 90% of all search engines.

Adding a new search engine

In this example, we'll add http://www.google.co.uk/ to E-Mail Seeker search engines list.

1. Go to File->Add/Modify Search Engines, and a window with existing search engines will appear.
2. Press "Add button". Now, you will have to carefully enter a search engine mask. It is a URL for the engine, formatted in a special way. Follow the instructions below to get the mask for a new engine.
2.1. Open the engine that you would like to add in your browser (in this example we'll open http://www.google.co.uk/ in Internet Explorer). Put any popular keyword in the search box and press the search button. For this example use the keyword "Travel".

2.2. After you get the first page with your search results, look for a link to 2nd page. We would click the "Next" link at the bottom of the page:

2.3. When you are on the 2nd results page, take a look at the address bar - it will show a long URL. Now you will need to copy this long URL into E-Mail Seeker "Add Search Engine" field.

2.4. With our example, the URL string would be

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Travel&hl=en&start=10&sa=N

Now we only have to replace our keyword "Travel" with the E-Mail Seeker variable "{KEYWORDS}" and the number of listings per page "10" with E-Mail Seeker variable "{GROUPNR*10}". Please note, that if on the second page you see other number than 10 (for example 20), that means that more than 10 listings are shown per page. You will then need to put this number after GROUPNR* - (for example "{GROUPNR*20}", if you see 20, etc.). The modified URL string in our example will look like:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q={KEYWORDS}&hl=en&start={GROUPNR*10}&sa=N

Add search engine window

2.5 Press OK and the engine will be added! Now you can use it to extract e-mail addresses.

Modifying a search engine

Go to File->Add/Modify Search Engines, and a window with existing search engines will appear. Choose an engine that you want to modify and press "Modify". Modification is similar to adding an engine in the section above.
